DeskUtils

Prevent Sleep · ⇧⌘P

Keep your Mac awake during long tasks

Prevent Sleep stops your Mac from going to sleep, without moving the pointer. Use it for exports, downloads, builds or anything that needs to keep running.

Toggle from the menu bar · ⇧⌘P · Off by default on launch

How it works

A manual toggle

Turn it on in the DeskUtils menu while a long task runs, then turn it off yourself when you’re done — it does not stop automatically and is always Off when DeskUtils launches.

Questions about Prevent Sleep

How is this different from Mouse Jiggler?

Prevent Sleep keeps your Mac awake without moving the pointer at all. Mouse Jiggler is a separate tool that moves the pointer.

Does it turn off automatically?

No. It stays on until you turn it off, and it does not stop when a task finishes.

Does it stop manual sleep or my Lock Screen?

No. It does not prevent manual sleep, lid-close sleep, or your Lock Screen policy.

Does it need a permission?

No macOS permission is required.
