DeskUtilsInstallation guide
A few steps. Then you’re home.
Download DeskUtils, move it to Applications, and grant only the permissions needed by the tools you use.
Install the app

Download and move the app
Download DeskUtils.dmg, open it, then drag DeskUtils into Applications.

Try to open DeskUtils once
Open DeskUtils from Applications. When macOS displays the warning, choose Done.

Open Privacy & Security
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, then scroll to Security. Do this within about an hour.

Allow DeskUtils
Click Open Anyway, authenticate, then click Open in the final prompt. You only need to do this once.
You’re home.
DeskUtils is in your menu bar. Click its icon to open the tools you switched on.
Grant only what you use
You stay in control
DeskUtils requests access when a feature needs it. You can decline an optional permission and use the tools that do not require it.
Screen Recording
For screenshots, screen text recognition and sampling on-screen colors.
Accessibility
For keyboard cleaning, direct paste and supported capture interactions.
Network access
Used for update checks and, when Pro is available, license activation and validation. Clipboard content is not included.
Verify your download
Check the file before opening
Each release includes SHA256SUMS.txt. Compare its DeskUtils.dmg value with the result of this Terminal command:
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/DeskUtils.dmgIf the values do not match, discard the download and get a new copy from the official release page. official release page.
Troubleshooting
I don’t see Open Anyway in Privacy & Security.
Open DeskUtils from Applications once more so macOS shows the warning, choose Done, then return to System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll to Security. The button is shown for about an hour.
The SHA-256 values don’t match.
Discard the download and get a new copy from the official release page.
DeskUtils still won’t open.
Email deskutils.app@gmail.com with your macOS version and the exact warning.
A tool isn’t working after I declined a permission.
Tools that need a permission won’t work until you allow it. You can grant it later in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
